These are some tracks from a demo disc I wrote and recorded with my first original band in the 80's.

Two months before writing these songs I learned the core techniques that would be the basis for Vocal Release. Prior to that I could not sing beyond the first octave in the bass range.

On these songs, not only was I still new to the right techniques for singing, I was new to song writing as well. This shows that the Vocal Release Technique can teach someone to sing, since I myself went from not being able to sing much at all, to being able to sing the recordings below in just two months.

I'm trying to find some old tapes of my first attempts at singing for my before. My first attempts at singing were truly embarrassing, but will serve to show the dramatic change in my voice. This proves you don't have to be born with ability to sing well, it can be learned.

This was my first time recording and my first time writing my own songs.

We paid for the recordings ourselves. It cost us $50 an hour, so we recorded these as quickly as we could. The quality of the recording is that of a demo. So, the production isn't as slick and professional sounding as a band with a music label backing them and spending hundreds of thousands of dollars on recording and a producer telling you to try it this way or that way because it might sound better. In the 80's home studio equipment was far more complicated to learn to use and more expensive.

Please note that most of these songs are rock/metal. I sounded like this because at the time I was heavily influenced by: David Bowie, Judas Priest, Queensryche, and Faith No More. These were MY vocal tone ideals and artistic influences. The Vocal Release Technique is NOT style specific. It will produce in a singer whatever their vocal tone ideal is. So, if you are a country singer you will sound like a good country singer, if you are a R&B singer you will sound like a good R&B singer, if you are a classical singer you will sound like a good classical singer.

You may not even like rock/metal music or my song writing or my personal style of singing. However these clips show that the vocal release technique produces a resonant, commercial vocal tone with plenty of range. Also, although some of the singing sounds dynamically loud, I could sing all these songs as easily as a strong resonant hum.

These are full songs. Some are quite long. So, it may take some time to download them on a slower connection.

You will need a flash player to play these files. Click on the play button twice to play a file.
